SUPER CAPACITOR

INDIA'S FIRST SUPERCAPACITOR PRODUCTION FACILITY

Keltron has established the first ever commercial supercapacitor production facility in India. It is the first company with completely automated equipments for production of supercapacitors and is the only indigenous commercial scale manufacturer of supercapacitors in India. The project is technically supported by ISRO and funded by Govt of Kerala. KCCL has the capacity to produce high quality and highly reliable customized supercapacitors at reasonable price for any end use. Pilot scale production of supercapacitors has started in January 2024.

RESEARCHINITIATIVES

KCCL’s R&D is a DSIR recognized R&D Lab. KCCL was involved in the research for the development of Supercapacitor Technology for many years. KCCL was associating with national research laboratories, including ISRO, DRDO/NMRL & CMET,  for over 6 years in this field.

PRODUCTION FACILITY

Keltron has setup a state-of-the art fully automatic production facility having a capacity of producing up to 6000 units per day of High CV Supercapacitors and 30000 pieces per day of Low CV Supercapacitors. The production facility includes 0.5% RH, clean  class 10000 dry room to accommodate sophisticated process equipment.

SUPERCAPACITOR

Supercapacitor is an electrical double layer Capacitor (EDLC) which act as a high density power storage device. It is the combination of high surface-area activated carbon electrodes with extremely small charge separation that results in high capacitance. A Supercapacitor is nothing but a high-capacity capacitor with capacitance values much higher than normal capacitors but lower voltage limits. Supercapacitors store charge electrostatically (non-Faradaic) by reversible adsorption of the electrolyte onto electrochemically stable high surface area carbon electrodes. They can store 10 to 100 times more energy per unit volume or mass than electrolytic capacitors, can receive and deliver charge much faster than batteries, and tolerate more charging-discharging cycles than rechargeable batteries. The Supercapacitor offers excellent power handling characteristics when used by themselves or in combination with batteries and provides extended back-up time.

APPLICATIONS

The Supercapacitor has many advantages in applications where high-power density, or many charge/discharge cycles are required, including Automobile, Renewable energy harvesting, Power electronics, UPS systems, Stabilizer, Military and space applications, Smart energy meters etc.

SPECIFICATIONS

Keltron produces Radial Lead Out (3F to 25F) and High CV (50F to 500F) supercapacitors with 2.5 V & 2.7 V ratings in Snap-in, Lug and Screw terminal configurations which works in varied temperature form -40° C to 65° C.
